Netball team impress

Tanzania national netball team have qualified into the quarterfinals of the on going All Africa Games after defeating hosts Mozambique by 96-8 in Maputo on Sunday.

Following the victory, the team has set sight on Uganda as their next opponent later this week.

The netball association of Tanzania’s (CHANETA) assistant secretary general Rose Mkisi said she is very happy after the progress shown by the team.

She remains optimistic over the team’s chances of cruising into the finals on Sunday.

“We are very happy that our national team has managed to qualify for the quarterfinals it’s now our hope that the team will reach the finals and if everything goes well we might possibly win the trophy”, she said.

Of al the teams that have been competing in the Games, so far netball has shown bright future following the elimination of the women soccer team.

In a related development Mkisi reminded all regions in the country to hold general elections before the association’s annual general meeting to be held in Dar es Salaam later this year.

She said crossing date for all regions to submit names of people elected for leadership post is November 30.
