Uganda Cranes coach predicts `disaster` in Taifa Stars match

By Guardian Reporter

Laszlo Csaba has labeled the Uganda Cranes` Africa Championship preparations “a total disaster.“

The German was close to tears on Tuesday after failing to assemble half his team for Saturday`s first round, first leg tie against Tanzania`s Taifa Stars, New Vision of Uganda reported yesterday.

“I wish somebody would tell me what`s going on. People should tell me that they do not need me,“ Csaba stated after yet again failing to raise the 21-man squad due to the ongoing tight Super League schedule.

None of the 13 players that reported for duty at Namboole Stadium on Tuesday could sprint or fully participate in any of the team`s physical sessions.

“They are complaining of fatigue, which is understandable given the number of matches they play in a week.

We have not been together as a team. It is a disaster here,“ he added.

With just few hours left before the Cranes travel to Tanzania, Csaba has already lost striker Anthony Bongole to injury in a league game.

Cranes players who were in the camp are H. Muwonge, S. Masaba, P. Makanga, J. Owino, O. Kasule, J. Mulindwa, T. Odur, O. Agaba, J. Sebuyiira, G.
Sserunkuuma, A. Bongole, S. Bengo and B. Olobo.

The team is expected to arrive in Mwanza today ready for the tournament meant for domestic players.

Stars under Brazilian coach Marcio Maximo are also expected to be in Mwanza ready for the match to be played at CCM Kirumba Stadium.
