Simba, Yanga meet in derby

City rivals Young Africans SC and Simba SC meet in a tension packed friendly at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam

Although it is a friendly but it is considered a league match as the two sides rarely meet and a loss will almost instantaneously lead to problems of technical bench cohesion and fan loyalty for the losing side.

A bad result causes the losing side club officials and technical bench descend into chaos.
Fans of the two sides routinely sack their leaders and technical team when one is defeated, claiming poor registration and mismanagement.

The fans are expected to train their eyes on new players recently signed by the two sides.
Yanga have signed former Simba striker Emmanuel Okwi from Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia, and goalie Juma Kaseja, while their across the street rivals inked former Yanga goalie Ivo Mapunda and Ghanaian Yaw Berko, offloaded from the Jangwani Street side.

This experience has provided me with a very useful insight into football and the opportunity to carry out extensive research into the game including its players, the stadiums, the rules and tactics and I have also been grateful to meet a wide range of people connected to football in the UK, Tanzania, Germany .....
