NYERERE VOLLEYBALL MEMORIAL CUP- NOVEMBER 15 TO 18 MOSHI TANZANIA

Tanzania Volleyball Association is currently in the preparations for this year’s Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Volleyball Cup.

The championship scheduled from November 15 ,winds up on 18,2012 at Hindu Mandal Volleyball courts in Moshi is expected to draw teams from neighboring Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.

Currently the Cup holders Jacaranda Volleyball Club from Mombasa Kenya have confirmed participation on this prestigious event.

Other local teams who have confirmed participation include Tanzania Prisons who have recently clinched National Club title, Jeshi Stars men and women, Mzinga, Kili Stars Tanzania Prisons Women, Dodoma and Morogoro Stars.

Teams from Rwanda and Burundi have been invited for the first time just to make the tournament more East African affair.

Mwalimu Nyerere Volleyball Memorial Cup is an annual event   made in the memory of the founder and father of the nation Tanzania.

Mwalimu Nyerere vigorously struggled for the unity of Africa and the World at large before his death 13 years ago.

Mwalimu Nyerere was at one time ready to delay Tanganyika Independence until Kenya and Uganda gets their Independence first.

Mwalimu Nyerere also a founder of PAN AFRICANISM / PAFMECA was always in support of the poor citizens and totally against corruption which is currently being practiced by most of our leaders.

Tanzania Volleyball Association has in the past 12 years organizing an annual volleyball memorial Cup in his remembrance to advocate the good deeds he made for Tanzania, Africa and the World at large

Through sports we believe we can make his dreams come in reality and this is why we have invited Rwanda and Burundi teams to join with teams from Kenya, Uganda and hosts Tanzania in strethening East Africa, simply a milestone towards African unity.
