TAVA NATIONAL LEVEL I, IN MAGU – MWANZA
Recently a TAVA National Level I coaching course for primary and secondary school sports teachers was held in Magu. This is the continuation of a development program aiming to reach 600 teachers all over the country. Through the course TAVA gives teachers the required knowledge to become strong coaches for beginner volleyball players in schools. Their target is every teacher to coach at least 20 players in schools and by so doing there will be about 10,000 players in schools who have benefited from TAVA coaches at the end of next year 2013.
This program which is sponsored by the FIVB Development fund has come into implementation after it was noticed that the level of Volleyball in Tanzania had dropped tremendously. It is acknowledged that the drop was due to the schools competitions UMISHUMTA & UMISSETA having been cancelled now for 10 years in Tanzania. TAVA decided to conduct this program so that teachers and students who are players acquire proper training and so that Tanzania will have many better players in the years to come. SAMAKI MKUNJE ANGALI MBICHI is their motto.
The eight days coaching program in Magu was very successful with 23 participants attending of both genders. 16 were from Primary schools and 7 from Secondary schools in Mwanza Region. These programmes have already been conducted in Zanzibar, Pwani, Tanga, Dar es Salaam, Morogoro and Manyara. There are also trainings planned for Kilimanjaro, Geita, Mbeya, Iringa and Arusha.
TAVA thanked the FIVB and CAVB for the great support provided and the balls and nets which are given to all schools who had participants at the training.
