Majengo Dodoma top National League
MAJENGO FC of Dodoma went top of the Singida Centre in the National Soccer League, after thrashing underdogs Mashujaa FC from Manyara 2 – 0 here on Thursday.
Nevertheless, the thrilling match was occasionally marred with riots apparently caused by Nyerere Jilili’s poor refereeing.
Majengo went into serious business from the word “go” and opened their score-board in the tenth minute through their ace-striker Hassan Kilipa, who superbly slotted home Seleman Hassan’s accurate pass, leaving keeper Abdillah Shaban sprawling on the ground.
Kilipa came into the picture again in the 36th minute when he made a solo effort to score the second goal for his team. The scorer collected a loose ball outside the box, dribbled past forest of Mashujaa defenders before rounding off keeper Abdillah to register a goal.
In ther second half, Mashujaa woke up from their deep slumber and almost pinned their opponents into their own territory but inept shooting cost them dearly.
In all fairness, Mashujaa FC had nothing in Abdillah – a man they trusted between the posts. He made some silly mistakes, which caused his team to lose the seemingly equally contested match.
In another encounter, Police Morani from Arusha drew 1-1 with their neighbours, Lang’ata Bora FC of Kilimanjaro, in a hard-fought match that was well handled by referee Florentina Zablon from Dodoma.
As we went to press, Majengo from Dodoma was leading with five points, hosts Samaria are second closely followed by Morani from Arusha (both have collected four points but Samaria have four goals in the kit while Morani have three).
Lang’ata from Kilimanjaro have two points and Mashujaa from Manyara have no point. The league continues on Saturday when Lang’ata will face Mashujaa from Manyara and Samaria will play host to Morani from Arusha.
