Another Poulsen to coach youth teams
The Tanzania Football Federation’s executive committee has employed Kim Poulsen as the new coach for the under 17 and 20 national soccer teams.
The coach has won a two-year contractual tenure to replace Rodrigo Stockler whose contract came to an end in April though he left a month earlier.
Poulsen’s contract is effective starting May 15.
The new coach has no blood relations with the senior national soccer team coach, Jan Poulsen, who secured a two-year contract effective August last year.
Poulsen is licensed to European Football Association (UEFA) at diploma level and is a high level coach approved by the Denmark Football association, DBU. Poulsen used to coach Denmark’s top flight side of FC Hjorring since July last year until he crossed over to Tanzania.
He won the most outstanding coach award for Denmark in 1989 and went on to seal off similar awards in 2004 and 2005 in Singapore where he coached the country’s under 23 national team.
Between 2002 and 2003 he coached Singapore’s under 18 national soccer team.
Poulsen’s appointment has been based on identical philosophy with the senior national soccer tea coach, Jan.
TFF information officer Boniface Wambura said the coach’s selection criteria were also in force during the era of Brazilian trainer Marcio Maximo who worked with native Marcus Tinoko and then Rodrigo Stockler.
Coordination, interaction and communication ease are some of the basic points deployed to appoint the youth team coach from Denmark and not anywhere else, so says Wambura.
