TFF unveils new committee teams

Tanzania Football Federation has approved names of proposed members for various standing committees in the federation for this season.

Wambura said most of the committees’ members retain their previous positions but the Referees’ Committee is so far the only one to have experienced major overhaul.

He said the Referees Committee will be led by the new chairman Stanley Lugenge, who will work with vice-chairman Omary Kasinde and members Riziki Majalla, Joan Minja and Mohamed Nyama.

“The major changes in the Referees’ Committee aims at improving efficiency,” said Wambura.

He said the committee’s former chairman Shaibu Nampunde will now lead the Technical and Development Committee.

Jamal Bayser and Juma Pinto have been approved to serve in the Media and Marketing Committees in place of Wambura and Angetile Osiah, who have now joined the TFF secretariat in which Osiah is the federation’s secretary general.

“Bayser and Lloyd Nchunga, who were members of the Disciplinary Committee, have been shifted to other committees because of a conflict of interest that surfaced during their service in the previous committee,” said Wambura.

Nchunga, who is also Yanga chairman, will serve in the Legal, Ethics and Players’ Committee in cooperation with Simba chairman Ismail Aden Rage and former Yanga chairman, Imani Madega.

Members who have filled Bayser and Nchunga positions in the Disciplinary Committee are Shaaban Semlangwa and Iddi Mtininjola.

The committees, which have a two-year mandate, operate on behalf of the federation’s executive committee.

In another development, the national soccer team Taifa Stars, is expected to open up a camp on February 6 to prepare for an international friendly against Palestine scheduled to take place at the National Stadium three days later. http://www.webdezine.in

Wambura said the match will serve as Stars’ build up ahead of a crucial 2012 African Nations Cup Qualifier duel with the Central African Republic (CAR) scheduled for March 26 at the same venue.
