Taifa Stars play
Kenya’s Harambee Stars in an international friendly on August 11 instead of Egypt as previously announced.
The match will be played in
Dar es Salaam as Harambee Stars are expected to fly in with most of their foreign based professionals.
The changes were announced by the Tanzania
Football Federation’s information officer, Florian Kaijage.
Egypt clobbered Stars by 5-1 goals under Marcio Maximo’s reign as a coach in November last year.
Besides availability of numerous invitations, presumably the
Egyptians are looking to play a more formidable opponent to test their players ahead of the
African Nations Cup qualifiers kicking off next month.
The Stars-Kenya friendly will be the first trial match for the newly employed Stars Danish coach Jan Poulsen
Poulsen announced his provisional line-up that started training yesterday to gear up for the trial.
The match is played less than a month ahead of the African Nations Cup 2012 qualifiers kick off.
Meanwhile, the Tanzania Football Federation’s
Charity Shield match between rivals Simba and Young Afrcians has been pushed back for three days.
The match was previously scheduled for August 14 and has been switched to August 18. The changes, however, does not affect the kick off of the Mainland premiership on August 21.
Simba and Yanga form the bulk of their first choice players in the Taifa Stars.
