Twiga Stars host Ethiopia

President Jakaya Kikwete

Confident Twiga Stars host Ethiopia in the return leg tie of the African Nations Cup qualifiers for ladies’ teams at the Uhuru Stadium today.

President Jakaya Kikwete is expected to be the guest of honour as the home side take to the stadium with the qualifier mission in hand.

The Dar es Salaam side kicks off the match with extensive psychological motivation after posting a resounding 3-1 win in their first leg match played in Addis Ababa a fortnight ago.

The mood and spirit of the host players are high banking on not only their first leg results but also home ground advantage including fans and conducive environment.

Head coach Charles Boniface and his assistant Mohamed Rishard have assured fans at home to expect nothing short of victory as the team focus on the next stage of the qualifiers.

The coaches have made a call to the public to turn up in huge numbers at the stadium obviously to boost morale of the host side while intimidating their opponents.

By virtue of their first leg performance, Twiga Stars are expected to breeze past the Ethiopians though football has always remained unpredictable on papers.

Both teams stand to emerge victorious though the visitors have an uphill task to subdue their hosts on the basis of the first leg results.

Twiga Stars, who were not accorded the needed attention, have shocked the football federation officials after their triumphant return last week.

Not much is known for the visitors who made a secret arrival early this week, a move that irked the football federation in Dar es Salaam.

While Twiga Stars are tipped to make progression into the next stage of the qualifiers, they are also reminded on complacency that might work against their wishes as well.
