Tanzania U-17 team knocked out

Down goes Tanzania Copa Coca-Cola skipper Himid Mau (L) as Nigerian player takes control during Inter-Africa under-17 championship semifinal tie played at Absa Stadium in Pretoria, yesterday.

Tanzania Copa Coca-Cola team crashed out of the Inter-Africa under-17 championship after going down to Nigeria by 2-1 goals in a semifinal match played at Absa Stadium in Pretoria yesterday.

Nigeria were the first to score as early as the tenth minute after kick-off and were two up after 22 minutes.
Nigerian defender Jukumu Joakim conceded an own goal in frantic efforts to clear Tanzania’s onslaughts.

Tanzania are expected to play against the loser of the other semi final between Malawi and South Africa in the classification match this morning.

The Tanzania head coach Rodrigo Stockler complained of Nigeria’s massive physical build up of players whom he suspected a flaw of age limitation.

Stockler said the Nigerian players are physically strong and gave no room to his boys in the match.

Tanzania cruised into the semi finals having breezed past Ethiopia by 5-0, Malawi 1-0, Namibia 3-1, Africa Invite 4-2 and drew 1-1 with Kenya in their last group match played on Tuesday.
