Group 6: Kazakhstan v England

With David James injured, West Ham’s Robert Green (pictured), former first choice Paul Robinson of Blackburn Rovers and West Bromwich Albion‘s Scott Carson are all in contention.

“I have more or less decided but tomorrow morning will be the last decision,” Capello said. “All the goalkeepers that we have here are fit.”

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand (calf) is ruled out, with West Ham’s Matthew Upson favourite to come in alongside John Terry at the back.

England are expected to opt for Peter Crouch in attack, supported by Wayne Rooney and Theo Walcott.

Group 4: Azerbaijan v Wales

Wales have an entire side out injured so John Toshack will be forced to name an inexperienced lineup.

Young Reading striker Simon Church could get the nod to partner Rob Earnshaw up front while Neal Eardley is likely to come in at right-back with Chris Gunter switching to the left.

David Edwards is set to replace Jack Collison in midfield but in total 11 players miss out through injury – Collison, captain Craig Bellamy, Owain Fon Williams, Simon Davies, Jason Koumas, James Collins, Danny Gabbidon, David Cotterill, Gareth Bale, Sam Ricketts and Ched Evans all miss out due to injury.

Group 8: Bulgaria v Republic of Ireland (18:30)

Paul McShane is a major doubt for the Republic of Ireland, with Sean St Ledger hoping to capitalise on the Sunderland defender’s absence.

Richard Dunne‘s participation in training was limited but he is expected to be fit enough to start alongside John O’Shea in Sofia.

Skipper Robbie Keane, Shay Given and Caleb Folan all trained on Thursday and appear certain to start, but Darron Gibson and Kevin Doyle been ruled out through injury.
