2nd TAFISA Certified Leadership Course successfully staged in Africa
The new TAFISA program “Certified Leadership Course in Sport for All” had an excellent start in Africa: hosted by Sport for All Nigeria in the metropolis Lagos at the Noah’s Ark Hotel the event, December 26 – December 2, attracted more than 50 participants representing various organizations in the field of Sport for All from the African region. This included delegates from Tanzania, Togo, Anguilla, Ghana, Nigeria etc.
The five days course included major topics like policy, philosophy, volunteerism, marketing, management, programs, public health etc. in Sport for All. The course was run by experts provided by TAFISA namely Prof. Peter Kapustin (Germany), Wim Florijn (Netherlands) and Wolfgang Baumann (Germany) and had at its end an oral examination. As the result participants received the TAFISA certification during an official ceremony in the presence of personalities of Nigerian sports.
The success of the Course was also a result of the organizational work of the Nigerian host under the leadership of the TAFISA vice president Mrs. Comfort Nwankwo. One of the highlights of the course was a Day of Nigerian Sports at the Lagos National Stadium presenting traditional dances and music, aerobics, parasoccer, abula game etc.
Due to the success of the first TAFISA Certified Leadership Course on African soil Tanzania and Togo are investigating to organize the next courses for East African countries and French speaking countries in 2008.
The 3rd Course is already scheduled in Macau for the Asian region, January 22 – 29, 2008.
