Tanzania play Cape Verde today

Taifa Stars play Cape Verde in the 2010 World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations Group One qualifying match at the Main National Stadium in Dar es Salaam today.

Hosts Stars will be looking to maintain their home ground unbeaten record as they face the visitors.

They forced a 1-1 draw each in their home matches against former African champions Cameroon and Mauritius.

Taifa Stars hit Mauritius 4-1 in their last away match played at St George V last month.

Kigi Makasi and Nizar Khalfan scored one each while Jerry Tegete doubled to make Stars reach five points.

The Brazilian coach, Marcio Maximo, is expected to miss the services of Khalfan who is currently nursing an injury in the today’s counter.

Maximo will, however, depend on the two remaining goal-getters who are expected to coordinate well with the likes of Mrisho Ngassa and Mussa Hassan, Mgosi to beat the visitors.

Taifa Stars have already missed places in the two finals.
World Cup finals will be held in South Africa while Angola will host Africa Nations Cup in the same year.

The last match’s win boosted Stars in the Fifa rankings.
Group leaders Cameroon and Cape Verde who are second have already qualified for the next stages of the tourneys.
