Yanga sinks as new comers beat Simba
Dar es Salaam Simba SC yesterday conceded 0-2 at the hands of Azam FC, also of Dar es Salaam, in yet another poor record of performance in the ongoing Vodacom Premier League match held at the National Stadium.
The lone goal that sank the Msimbazi Street boys came in the 42nd minute through Jamal Mnyate after defender Anthony Matangula thought Jamal was offside.
Simba`s Mohamed Banka fouled John Boko inside the box, prompting referee Athumani Kazi from Dar es Salaam to award a penalty kick to Azam.
But as Simba went down at the National Stadium, the story was the same with their arch rivals Yanga, who suffered a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Kagera Sugar at Kaitaba Stadium in Bukoba. All the goals were realised in the second half.
Kagera Sugar, displaying splendid foot work, seemed to be all out to disrupt Yanga`s lead in the league table though they have not been affected by the results.
Newly elevated Azam put up a stiff resistance against the Msimbazi soccer giants, commanding the game for almost the entire 90 minutes with Simba coming up with sporadic attacks.
