Stars strikers lack scoring techniques – Mmachinga
Former Taifa Stars striker Mohammed Husseni `Mmachinga` has said Stars forwards lack scoring techniques especially when they reach inside the penalty area.
Hussein, who also used to play for Yanga, Simba and Bandari Mtwara, said that Stars coach Marcio Maximo should see the need of picking other useful strikers, some of them already included in the squad.
“There are good strikers like Mussa Hassani `Mgosi` who can help the team in the position. I think it is high time for Maximo to call such forwards,“ he said.
He added that most of the players have been performing impressively while in their clubs but failed to show their ability to score after being called to join Stars.
Hussein also urged Maximo to start with striker Jerry Tegete in his first eleven instead of Emmanuel Gabriel in the coming match against Cameroon on Saturday.
“Tegete plays well and he has good connection with wingers when on the pitch,“ he added.
Hussein’s advice came after Taifa Stars were beaten away 1-0 by Cape Verde in the 2010 World Cup and Africa Nations Cup qualifier match staged last weekend.
The team also drew 1-1 against Mauritius in their first qualifier match played in Dar es Salaam.
Maximo is still optimistic that his squad will perform better to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
