TOC acts on Games preps

The TOC Secretary-General, Filbert Bayi

The Tanzania Olympic Committee (TOC) will tomorrow meet with sports bodies to discuss preparations for the All African Games.

The games will be staged from September 3 to 8 in the Mozambican capital, Maputo.
The TOC Secretary-General, Filbert Bayi, said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that they would discuss the number of athletes who would represent the country in the games.
“The All African Games Organising Committee has asked us to send the names of the athletes to Maputo for accreditations. We have, therefore, called the concerned disciplines for a meeting so that we agree on the names,” Bayi said.
Disciplines which have been earmarked to send their athletes are Athletics Tanzania (AT), boxing (BFT), table tennis (TTTA), netball (Chaneta), women soccer (TFF) and swimming (TSA).
Bayi said the each body would be represented by the secretary general and chairperson.

I have been involved with sports in Tanzania as a Volleyball Coach for many years—and was a Tanzania Amateur Volleyball Association (TAVA) leader. I studied sports management at Leipzig University in Germany and understand the science behind sports. That led me to work as a football pundit, with the BBC ( Swahili service) in London. That experience and exposure took me to covering the 2010, World Cup in South Africa. This provided me with a great insight into international level football commentary and the opportunity to carry out extensive research into the game including its players, the stadiums, the rules and tactics.I have also been grateful to meet a wide range of people connected to football in the UK, Tanzania, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Ireland, France, Kenya etc, and visited almost all of the key football stadiums across United Kingdom, and Europe.
